Anna Nicole Smith (born Vickie Lynn Hogan on November 28, 1967 Houston - February 8, 2007 Hollywood), was an American actress and model who first gained popularity as Playboy magazine's 1993 Playmate of the Year. Her career and public image subsequently suffered as her weight gain and bizarre antics were put on display in supermarket tabloids and in her short-lived reality television show. Smith slimmed down and became the spokesperson for a weight loss supplement.
Anna Nicole Smith married restaurant cook Billy Wayne Smith in 1985. They separated in 1987.
Her highly publicized marriage in June 27, 1994, to oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall, 63 years her senior, after meeting him at a strip club, resulted in considerable speculation that she married the octogenarian merely for his money, which she denied. Marshall died the following year and Smith fought a highly publicised 14-month legal battle for her share of his riches. Her case, Marshall v. Marshall, reached the U.S. Supreme Court in February, 2006, on a narrow constitutional issue over the right of a federal judge to intervene in a state probate case. On May 1, 2006, Smith won the Supreme Court case 9-0, which boosts her chances of getting a larger share of her late husband's estate. The decision did not give Smith a portion of her husband's estate, but affirmed her right to pursue a share of it in federal court.
On Sept. 7, 2006, Anna Nicole Smith, 38, gave birth to a healthy 6 lb., 9 oz. baby girl by caesarean in Nassau, Bahamas. Her daughter is named Dannielynn Hope in honor of her late son.
The 20-year-old son of Anna Nicole Smith, Daniel Smith, died on September 10, 2006, while visiting his mother in the hospital where the reality TV star and former Playboy playmate had given birth. The son had small roles in her movies "Skyscraper" and "To the Limit."

Stern announced on Larry King Live that he is the father of Anna Nicole's newborn daughter, and that he & Anna Nicole have been in a relationship for some time. A judge in the United States ordered that DNA tests be performed to determine who is the biological father of Dannielynn.

The former Playboy model and reality television star collapsed in her hotel room and was rushed to a hospital about 2 p.m. EST but was pronounced dead.
Smith, 39, was found unconscious in her hotel room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., "She was obviously in distress," hotel President Michael Bloom told the Associated Press.
A private nurse called 911 after finding Smith unresponsive in her sixth-floor room, said Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger. He said Smith's bodyguard administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation about an hour before she was declared dead.
Smith didn't have her baby with her, but was accompanied by her husband and four others, including a nurse. Bloom said the hotel received a call from her nurse just after 1:30 p.m. requesting assistance. Five minutes later, hotel security and emergency medical technicians responded to her room and contacted local fire and rescue teams.
It was the dramatic end to the life of the woman born Vickie Lynn Hogan in Houston on Nov. 28, 1967.
Playboy founder Hugh Hefner said in a statement, "I am very saddened to learn about Anna Nicole's passing. She was a dear friend who meant a great deal to the Playboy family and to me personally,". February 10, 2007 - A medical examiner says more tests will be necessary to determine the cause of Anna Nicole Smith's death.
Police say no illegal drugs were found in the room, just prescription medication.
The doctor who performed the autopsy has excluded any trauma as a cause of death. He says the autopsy revealed only "subtle findings" in the heart and gastrointestinal tract.
He says Smith had apparently had been sick for several days with some kind of stomach flu.
Smith was finally buried March 2 at Nassau's Lakeview Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in a plot adjacent to her son, Daniel.
April 5, 2007 - Two diaries penned by Anna Nicole Smith in the early 1990s reveal a troubled young woman professing to be deeply in love with octogenarian oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II but often depressed and concerned about her weight and eating habits.
An autopsy report showed Smith died at age 39 from an accidental overdose of at least nine prescription drugs - including a powerful sleep aid - and that there was no foul play.
The psychiatrist who prescribed all 11 of the drugs found in Anna Nicole Smith's hotel room after the tabloid star died is under investigation by the Medical Board of California. Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, who prescribed more than 1,800 pills and a bottle of the powerful sedative chloral hydrate for Smith in the five weeks before she died of a drug overdose, could lose her medical license if the board finds misconduct on her part. Most of the drugs were prescribed to Smith's companion, Howard K. Stern, but medical examiners have said that they were intended for the 39-year-old Playboy Playmate turned billionaire's widow.
On April 10, 2007, a Bahamanian judge ruled Larry Birkhead, a former boyfriend, as the father of Dannielynn. DNA tests had established Birkhead as the father, with 99.99% certainty.
